Thomas Lewis was born 1752 in VA. He died 1800 in VA.

Served at the Battle of Point Pleasant (10 October 1774) with his father General Andrew Lewis. He inherited much of the land his father had owned in the Point Pleasant area.

He was appointed one of 10 "gentlemen justices" when Kanawha Co, VA was formed in November 1788. He was also the first sheriff of that county. He was Colonel of the first militia at Kanawha, with Daniel Boone serving as his Lieutenant Colonel.

On 9 December 1791, Thomas Lewis started the first ferry service across the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers at Point Pleasant, appearing also as a "trustee" of the town of Point Pleasant, which was laid out the same day.
